Sobriety check set in Hampshire County - 12/12

ROMNEY, W.Va. — A sobriety checkpoint is scheduled for Friday evening along U.S. Route 50 near Romney, according to West Virginia State Police.

The checkpoint will be conducted from 8 p.m. Friday until 2 a.m. Saturday to increase awareness of the hazards of intoxicated driving, according to 1st Sgt. C.E. Platt, Troop 2, District 2 commander.

The West Virginia State Police, in conjunction with the Governor’s Highway Safety Program, will conduct events and patrols concentrating on the arrest of intoxicated drivers during the weekend of Dec. 14-16.
