Man charged in truck crash - 11/24

EVERETT, Pa. — An 18-year-old Everett man has been charged by police for a crash in which he was critically injured.

Police arrested  Joseph “Corey” Clingerman on Wednesday after his release from the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, according to a news release issued by Pennsylvania State Police said. He was charged with felony fleeing/attempting to elude police and unauthorized use of a vehicle.

The accident occurred Nov. 6 when Clingerman, driving a 2001 Dodge truck, was being chased by Pennsylvania State Police southward on U.S. Route 220. When he crossed the state line into Maryland, state police deployed tire deflation devices.

Clingerman wrecked the truck after three of the four tires deflated. The truck traveled off the roadway where it overturned, ejecting Clingerman. The accident happened on a section of U.S. 220 between Interstate 68 and the Pennsylvania state line.

Pennsylvania authorities said the unauthorized use of the truck was reported to them Nov. 5. The pursuit began when Pennsylvania troopers observed the vehicle around 2:40 a.m. on Nov. 6

Police said a preliminary hearing is scheduled in Bedford County on Nov. 27. Clingerman was being held on $50,000 bond at the Bedford County Jail, police said.
