CUMBERLAND - "Tamu" Debbie Beckward, nationally known professional dancer, actress, poet, choreographer, live talk show host and radio personality, will perform at the Allegany County Branch of the NAACP's Freedom Fund dinner Sunday at 4 p.m. at the Holiday Inn.

Beckward, a native of Cumberland, has more than 25 years of teaching and performing experience that range from Brown Station Elementary in Gaithersburg to the University of California and Emory University in Georgia. She began her dance training at the age of 3 in John Moyer's Dance Studio and also received training at the American Conservatory Theatre in San Francisco.

She has performed with the Alvin Ailey Workshops and the Baltimore City Ballet Company. She recently performed her "One Woman Show" at West Virginia Northern Community College in Wheeling and will perform the show in Washington, North Carolina and Florida.

The event will include a dinner and program. Donald Cash, executive assistant to the president and director of minority affairs United Food and Commercial Workers Local 400, will be the speaker. He is co-chairman of the National NAACP Health Committee - Sickle Cell Anemia Project and founder of Faces of Our Children Sickle Cell Anemia Foundation.
