ACCIDENT - S. "Russell" Wright, 92, of Accident, passed away Feb. 15, 2007, at Cherry Hill Assisted Living in Accident, where he has resided since January of 2004.

Born June 9, 1914, in Glade Farms, W.Va., to Simon Peter and Blanche (Messenger) Wright, he grew up with his brothers and sisters on a farm. He attended Potomac State College for a short time before marrying Edna Blanche Humberson in 1935. They had five children. Russell and Edna settled in Friendsville in 1939. There he had a creamery route and worked as a coal miner and truck driver before opening Yough Cash Feed Store, where shoes and groceries were also sold. In 1958 Russell became a driver for Motor Cargo and Consolidated Freightways in Akron, Ohio. After retirement, Russell and Edna divided their time between West Palm Beach, Fla., and Accident until 1996.

Russell was a member of Woodmen of the World and the Teamsters' Union. He was a member of the Hoyes United Methodist Church. An avid sports fan, he especially enjoyed playing golf with "Charley's Angels" in Oakland.

Russell is survived by a sister, Esta Selby of Bear Creek Road, Friendsville; son, Gordon Wright and his wife Hazel of Hoyes, son, Lambert and his wife Dotty of New Castle, Pa., son, Delmos and his wife Leeanne of Palm Harbor, Fla.; daughter, Delores and her husband Thomas Shade of Frederick, daughter, Elsie and her husband Dr. Leo Rabago of Mt. View, Calif.; grandchildren, Vickie Hall of Huntington, Bradley Wright of St. Leonard, Rhonda Buckler of Huntington, Chris Wright of Crofton, Greg Wright of N. Woodmere, N.Y., Pam Louderback of Campbell, Calif., Thomas Shade of Parkville, John Shade of Sykesville, Daniel Rabago of Los Gatos, Calif., Dr. James Rabago of Merced, Calif., Peter Wright of Billings, Mont., Andrew Wright of Elyria, Ohio; and 21 great-grandchildren.

Russell's beloved wife Edna passed away in 2001. He was also predeceased by half brothers, Cleophas, Leman and Arley Wright; half sisters, Estelle Teagarden and Viola Cole; a brother, Werlie Wright; sisters, Ethel Oakman and Jessie Griffin; and a grandson, Michael Wright.

Friends will be received at the Newman Funeral Homes, P.A., 943 Second Ave., Friendsville, on Saturday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.

Services will be conducted at the funeral home on Sunday, Feb. 18, 2007, at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Samuel Wachter officiating.

Interment will be in Blooming Rose Cemetery.
