Claxton F. “Jack” Giddens [Toledo]

TOLEDO, Ohio — Our world lost one of the last true southern gentleman when Claxton Foy Giddens went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, June 24, 2009, after a short illness at Flower Hospital.
The son of Joseph and Julia (Cannon) Giddens, Jack was born on Nov. 1, 1921 in Statesboro, Ga.
He served as a MP in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was employed by Hanover Shoe Store in Akron, Ohio, as store manager for over 30 years. Jack loved to bowl and won numerous trophies. He was also an avid golfer and played minor league baseball. He was a member of The Church of the Nazarene and Perrysburg First Baptist.
Jack was a great husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle. He was loved by all who knew him!
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Lois; daughters, Katherine (Donald) Trimble and Deborah (Richard) Ickes; grandchildren, Todd (Stephanie) Trimble, Timothy (Andrea) Trimble, Jeweldeen Ickes, Matthew (Kimberly) Ickes, Jennifer Davis and Benjamin Ickes; great-grandchildren, Jackson Harris, Hannah, Abigail and Riley Trimble and Sabrina Rose Davis; brother, Joe; sister, Doris “Doe” Eutzler; and step-sons, Tim (Vickie) and Tom Taylor. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Erma Pauline (Leach); daughter, Jacqueline Ann; three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be at the Walker Funeral Home, 5155 W. Sylvania Ave. (west of Corey Rd.), Toledo, on Friday from 7 to 9 pm.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1 p.m. at Perrysburg First Baptist, 590 W. South Boundary, Perrysburg, Ohio.
Interment will be on Monday at the Hillside Memorial Cemetery in Akron.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions maybe given to Paralyzed Veterans of America and the American Cancer Society.
