Anna D. Eisentrout [Hagerstown]

HAGERSTOWN — Anna D. Eisentrout, 87, went to be with the Lord on Oct. 10, 2008.
Born March 17, 1921 in Frostburg, she was the youngest daughter of the late Welsh parents, Mary Emma Gatehouse and Edward Davis.
She graduated from Frostburg State Teachers College in 1943 with a BS degree and received her Master's Equivalency from Frostburg and Western Maryland Colleges in 1973. She taught music and fifth grade at Broadway School from 1942 to 1949 and Pangborn Elementary from 1966 until 1983.
She was a member of John Wesley United Methodist Church and loved serving the Lord through her work on the Missions Committee and the administrative council. She led the Broadway Elementary choruses in the National Federation of Music Clubs competition. She started the first Girl Scout troop at Pangborn Elementary in 1959. She was a former member of Zi Epsilon, Beta Sigma Phi, Alpha Delta Kappa and Delta Kappa Gamma. She enjoyed music, art, calligraphy, poetry and nature. She was a master of creating personal poetic biographies honoring her special friends.
She is survived by her husband, Robert Leslie Eisentrout; three daughters, Ann “Snicky” Davis of Laurel, Del., Jan Shaffer of Hickory, N.C. and Lyn Ivanowicz and husband Mark of Buenos Aires, Ark.; five grandchildren, Jamie and Max Davis, Corey Shaffer and Allie and Emilie Ivanowicz; two sisters, Margaret Poole of Moorefield, W.Va. and Mary Beth Bevan of Frostburg.
She will always be remembered for her kind heart by her family, church, former students and many friends.
There will be no viewing.
There will be a Celebration of Life service at John Wesley United Methodist Church on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 3 p.m. Family will receive friends following the memorial service in the Wesleyan Room.
In lieu of flowers contributions can be sent to Hospice of Washington County, 747 Northern Ave., Hagerstown and/or John Wesley United Methodist Church, 129 N. Potomac St., Hagerstown.
