Spirit of ’76

The U.S. Army Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps performs in Center Court of Country Club Mall Monday evening as part of an Army Recruiting Office career and job fair. Dressed in uniforms patterned after those worn by musicians of the Continental Army, the corps will return to the mall today from 6 to 6:30 p.m. The unit is the only one of its kind in the armed forces, recalling the days of the American Revolution with drills and patriotic music. Created in 1960, the group performs at 500 events annually and has marched in every Inaugural Parade since John F. Kennedy became president.
