CUMBERLAND — Devin Shreve picked off a pair of passes and returned one for a game-clinching touchdown as Fort Hill defeated Martinsburg, 15-8, Monday at Greenway Avenue Stadium.
The Sentinels (1-1-1) never trailed but led by only 9-8 when Shreve returned an interception 50 yards for a touchdown that made it 15-8.
The Sentinels led 3-0 at halftime on Chris King’s 25-yard field goal, then made it 9-0 when K’Shaun Powell threw a 40-yard touchdown pass to James Hebert in the third quarter.
Martinsburg cut the score to 9-8 with a 20-yard pass play and two-point conversion in the fourth.
Quarterbacks Shreve and Powell combined for 150 yards passing and Brandon Stotler led a Fort Hill rushing attack that piled up another 150 yards.
Scott Morris, Joe Mundella and John Harriss led a strong team defensive effort for Fort Hill, which will play again Oct. 7 at Berkeley Springs.
