SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Fort Hill picked up its fifth AMAC win as the Sentinels shut out Frankfort 5-0 Tuesday evening at Frankfort High School.

The Fort Hill defense and goalkeeper James Johnson came up with their third shutout as the Sentinels took a 2-0 halftime lead on Mike Moyer’s goal on an assist by Andrew Amoruso at 22:31 and Amoruso followed at 11:46 on an assist by Moyer.

In the second half, Zach Steckman scored at 37:28 on a Tyler Funk assist from a corner kick, followed by Hunter Tipton’s goal at 20:40 on an assist by Ryan Diehl. Moyer scored his second goal of the match at 7:06 on an assist by Cullin Brown.

The Sentinels outshot the Falcons 23-10 and had a 10-5 advantage in corners. Johnson had eight saves in goal, while Frankfort’s Cameron Spence saved 15.

Fort Hill (5-1-2 overall, 4-1-2 AMAC) will travel to Southern on Tuesday, with the junior varsity match getting under way at 6 p.m. and the varsity at 7:30 p.m. Frankfort (3-6-3, 1-4-1) plays tonight, 7 o’clock, at Petersburg.


Berkeley Springs 3, Petersburg 0

PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Zach Wise and Jake Wise combined for the scoring and Berkeley Springs dominated Petersburg at Petersburg.

Jake Wise scored the first goal for the Indians at 7:26 of the first half on an assist by Josh Fox, followed by a Zach Wise goal assisted by Dylan Tripp at 3:04 to give Berkeley a 2-0 halftime lead.

Zach Wise scored the third goal uanssisted at 17:43 of the second half.

Berkeley Springs outshot the Vikings, 38-8, and held an 8-1 advantage in corners. Petersburg’s Garrett Willis had 22 saves in goal, while Caleb Murray stopped four for Berkeley Springs.

Petersburg (3-4-1) will host Frankfort tonight at 7 o’clock.
