Mountain Ridge Mat club to register Monday

FROSTBURG — The Mountain Ridge Mat Club will hold registration for the 2012-2013 wrestling season on Monday in the main lobby of Mountain Ridge High School from 6 to 7:30 p.m.

Registration is open to students in grades 1-8 in the Mountain Ridge School district. A registration fee will be charged. Practices begin on Monday, Nov. 19 at 7 in the Mountain Ridge Mat Room. For more information contact Allan Twigg at 301-268-6325 or Chris Fresh at 301-268-8168.

Boys soccer meeting set for Tuesday

FROSTBURG — The area high school boys soccer meeting will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m., in room 202 at Bishop Walsh School.

All coaches are encouraged to attend. The all-area team and player of the year awards will be decided at this meeting.

FSU runners compete at Dickinson

NEWVILLE, Pa. —  Gavin Caupp and Bryn Allston were the first Frostburg State runners to finish at the NCAA Division III Mideast Cross Country Regional Saturday at Dickinson College.

The Frostburg State men finished 43rd in a team of 49 teams with 1,188 points. Haverford won with 63 points, and Carnegie Mellon was second with 92.

Caupp led the Bobcats with a time of 28:12.8 for 135th place. Josh Biser was the second FSU finisher, 252nd in 30:19.2. Jonathan Stewart (260th, 30:34.9) and Daniil Repchenko (261st, 30:36.2) each had personal best times. Ryan Hipps (280th, 31:17.0) rounded out the FSU scoring runners.

The FSU women were 44th out of 49 teams with 1,345 points. Johns Hopkins was the team champion with 63 points. Allston posted a personal record and led the Lady Bobcats with a time of 26:52.7 for 208th place.

Gabbi Mahler (248th, 27:59.9), Jen Bower (256th, 28:19.8), Sydney Castro (305th, 30:29.0) and Erika Watson (328th, 36:53.2) rounded out the Bobcat runners.

There were 343 finishers in the men’s race and 346 in the women’s.
