Miners win five Kaeser matches, improve to 6-0

GLEN BURNIE — Mountain Ridge won five matches Friday at the Kaeser Duals at North County High School, with the closest being a 27-point rout, to improve to 6-0.

The Miners captured a 69-9 win over Thomas Stone, a 48-21 win over Wilde Lake, 60-9 decision against Century, a 66-9 victory over Western Tech and finished with a 50-23 match against Northern Calvert.

Eleven wrestlers pinned their way to victories against Thomas Stone. Matt Whetstone was the quickest to do so by winning the 220-pound division in eight seconds. Devin Femi won at 106 pounds in 26 seconds. Cody Matthews (126), J.T. Thomas (132), Justin Bryant (145), Adam Martz (152), Nick Shifflett (160), Tim Buskirk (182) and Brian Fuente (285) also collected pins.

Colten White (120) and Colton Sites (138) pinned their opponents versus Wilde Lake, with Nick Shifflett (160) and Tyler Maynard (170) following suit.

Matthews (126), Thomas (138) and Sites (145) got the early pins against Century. Shifflett (170) and Fuente (285) won two more pinfalls, and Austin Clark (220) got his first.

Against Western Tech, Matthews (126), Thomas (132), Sites (138), Martz (152) and Shifflett (160) continued their dominance. Clark (195) got another pin along with Fuente (285) and Femi (113).

Five more pins came against Northern Calvert with Martz (152), Maynard (170), Clark (195), White (120) and Matthews (126) all earning another.

The Miners will wrestle a solo match on Wednesday when it hosts Hyndman.
