CUMBERLAND — Shawn Epps-Walker scored 17 points and Victor Blakey had 16 to lead Hagerstown Community College to a 78-59 win over Allegany College of Maryland in men’s basketball Monday at Bob Kirk Arena.
The win gave Hagerstown a sweep of the non-conference doubleheader. The Hawks won the women’s, 58-54.
In the men’s game, Allegany trailed 34-28 at halftime but rode a strong second-half start to a 47-43 lead with just over nine minutes to go.
But the bottom dropped out of things over a five-minute span for the Trojans, who were unable to recover.
“We went from playing well to losing some composure executing, which led to some turnovers,’’ said coach Tommie Reams. “We stalled out on offense and couldn’t recover after a rough five-minute or so span. We let one slip away.”
Jahlen Green and Terrance Rashawn Walker added 11 points for Hagerstown (3-11).
Tavon Williams had a double-double with 13 points and 15 rebounds for Allegany. Tyson Reynold added 13 points and seven rebounds and Adam Wells had eight points and seven rebounds.
The Trojans (2-11) will host Dundalk in a Maryland JUCO Conference game on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
