Patriots beat Warriors, finish regular season undefeated

Miners mash Morgantown behind McElhenny

CUMBERLAND — Brayden Poling scored four touchdowns and had 275 yards of total offense in the Patriots 42-8 win over the Warriors Sunday at Allegany High School.

The win gives the Patriots an undefeated regular season at 7-0 and makes them the regular season champions. They will play Morgantown in the first round this Sunday at Allegany College.

Poling rushed five times for 160 yards, and scored on runs of 62, 10 and 32 yards. He caught three balls for 115 more yards and scored on a 70-yard pass in the fourth for the Pats’ final points.

Brayden Brown rushed for 85 yards on three carries, scoring on a run of nine yards. He finished 5 of 7 passing for 125 yards.

Tater Hess scored on a two-yard run in the second quarter as the Patriots built a 28-0 lead by halftime.

The Warriors broke onto the scoreboard in the fourth quarter with a 50-yard pass from Shawn Rhodes to Logan Milburn.

Luke Hamilton, Raen Smith, Poling and Holden Sibley led the Patriots defense with seven tackles each.

The Warriors (1-6) play Saturday, 2 p.m., at Keyser in the opening round.

The Division II Patriots will play Northern on Sunday at 4 p.m.

FROSTBURG — The Miners jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and led 41-0 at halftime during a shutout of Morgantown last weekend.

Kristian Robinette scored and Kaden McElhenny scored two times each with McElhenny adding one through the air as the Miners finished the year with a 2-5 mark and will visit Northern this weekend.

McElhenny scored on a 12-yard run and Robinette kicked the extra point to make it 8-0  before Robinette ran in from 29 yards to make it 14-0. The scoring ended in the first quarter on a 48-yard pass from McElhenny to Daniel Bittinger.

Noah DeMichele scored on a six-yard run in the second quarter, while Robinette added a 42-yard score McElhenny went in from 21 yards out before halftime.

Garrett Whitaker scored on a one-yard plunge in the third.

Morgantown (0-7) opens the playoffs at the Patriots.
