Allegany drops two to Frederick

FREDERICK — Frederick scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth to win the opener 7-2, then rode the momentum to a 6-2 win in the second game to sweep Allegany in college softball Saturday afternoon.

Mary Crosby tossed a complete game three-hitter and Chey Trail fhit three singles for Frederickin the first game. The Cougars led 3-2 before pulling away with five runs in the sixth.

Paris Duncan tripled and Bailey Sinai doubled for Allegany.

In the second game, the Trojans took a early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Frederick answered in the bottom half with two and scored two more in the fourth and fifth.

Olivia Legos hit a triple and a single for the Cougars.

Allegany got two singles from Sam Frankenberry and Kayla Hutson, while Sinai added a double. The Trojans struggled leaving runners on base, stranding 10 and leaving the bases loaded twice.

Hutson in center field, Alyssa Yost and Kaylee DeVore at third base and Alayna Harshbarger at shortstop were cited for outstanding defense during the two games.

The Trojans (1-3) play again Wednesday at Dundalk.
