taking applications for fall class


CUMBERLAND — Potomac Valley Board 204 of the International Association of Approved Basketball Officials (IAABO) is now accepting applications for its fall cadet class.

Offstein, Feezle win Andrea

Gattens 5K


BARTON — Madison Offstein and Casey Feezle were the overall winners of the eighth Andrea Gattens 5K Fun Run/Walk Saturday, Aug. 17 in Barton. Masters winners were Jen Sober and Larry Ferrens.

The memorial run is held annually in memory of Andrea Gattens, a former standout athlete at Westmar High School, where she played volleyball, basketball and softball. She also played volleyball at Allegany College of Maryland and was an avid runner, participating in many area races.

Proceeds from the race will fund $2,000 in scholarships in the areas of journalism and athletics at Mountain Ridge High School.
