Fort Hill sweeps Mtn. Ridge

FROSTBURG — Fort Hill swept Mountain Ridge, 25-20, 25-14 and 25-20 on Thursday at Mountain Ridge.

Erin Amoruso had seven kills, eight points and six digs for Fort Hill, while Haley Wolfe had 16 assists and seven points. Sarah Lowery had six kills, three blocks and scored 10 points and Sierra Minnick scored 10 points and had 12 digs.

For Mountain Ridge, Addie Lauder had four points and 11 assists. Kiersten Miller had three points and four kills and Melissa Shank had two points and 12 digs.

Fort Hill also took the junior varsity match, 25-20, 25-18. For Fort Hill, Bailey Godlove and Skylar Barbe both had 10 points. Avery Bridges scored seven for Mountain Ridge.

Fort Hill (2-0) will play at Hampshire on Tuesday. Mountain Ridge (0-2) will host Bishop Walsh Monday at 7 p.m.

Allegany 3, BW 0

CUMBERLAND — Allegany swept Bishop Walsh Thursday at Allegany, 25-13, 25-10 and 25-15.

Sydney Thompson had 18 service points for Alco with seven aces, 10 assists, four kills and three digs. Brianna Benko had 12 points, three aces, four digs and five kills. Jordan Hare hit three aces, scored nine points, had 15 digs and three kills and Anya Murray had eight points, two aces, 10 assists, eight kills and four blocks.

For Bishop Walsh, Sarah Rogers had six points with one ace and four kills. Meredith Dunn had two kills with six digs, and Andrea Contaldi five assists with four digs.

Allegany (1-1) will play Thursday at Fort Hill. Bishop Walsh (0-7) will play Monday, 7 p.m., at Mountain Ridge.

Calvary 3, Paw Paw 0

PAW PAW, W.Va. — Shakayla Ganoe had a triple-double with 21 service points, 10 aces and 18 assists as unbeaten Calvary Christian swept Paw Paw, 25-20, 25-9, 25-19.

Ganoe also had seven kills. Jada Lowery added 17 points, five kills and two aces and Kerenne Shaffer had eight kills, 10 points and one block for Calvary.

The Eagles (6-0) host Shalom today at 4:30.

Keyser 3, Moorefield 1

KEYSER, W.Va. — Annie Kesner had a match-high 17 service points to lead Keyser past Moorefield by 19-25, 27-25, 25-14 and 25-21 scores.

Katie Tasker had a team-high 12 kills and Katie Wilson added 11 service points and six kills for the Golden Tornado. Cheyenne Lender had five kills and Brooke Riggleman four aces for Moorefield.

Keyser won the jayvee match 25-20, 25-23 with Tori Kane serving for 13 points and Grace Burgess getting nine points and six kills. Summer Flinn had three aces for Moorefield.

Keyser plays again Tuesday at Berkeley Springs.

  • Carr has 10 RBIs as Northern splits pair

    HANCOCK — Brooks Carr hit two home runs and drove in 10 runs on the day as Northern split a pair of games at the Hancock Easter Classic, beating Broadfording Academy 26-1 before losing to St. James 10-6. Against Broadfording, Carr hit a three-run homer in a 10run first inning, and also had a two-run double, an RBI single and a sacrifice fly to finish with seven RBIs. He also teamed with Brett Oates on a four-inning no-hitter. Carr struck out seven over the first three innings and Oates fanned two in the fourth.
