Baker leads PSC to win

FSU tops York, GC beats Essex

— KEYSER, W.Va. — Reggie Baker poured in 32 points and Mike Hatfield had 15 and six steals to power Potomac State over Penn Highlands, 92-76, Wednesday evening.

Baker hit 11 field goals and six of eight free throws to lead all scorers for the Catamounts (7-4), who scored 56 points in the first half and led by 16.

But Penn Highlands cut the lead to three with six minutes into the second half. The Catamounts regrouped and pulled away for good, with Hatfield and Chad Potter leading the second-half spurt.

Peyton Hartman added 14 points for Potomac State, which will host Butler on Saturday at 2 p.m.

Jordan Swauger scored 21 points for Penn Highlands.

Potomac State lost at Essex 85-64 on Monday. Hartman hit five three-point goals and had a team-high 17 points. Hatfield and Baker had 10.

FROSTBURG — Frostburg State ended the first half on a 23-2 run and routed York (Pa.) in its Capital Athletic Conference game.

The Bobcats (7-10, 2-3), who shot 52 percent from the field, held a commanding 39-12 advantage at halftime and led by more than 20 points for most of the second half.

Christian Jackson had 17 points, Kwambina Coker 14 points and eight rebounds and Jabari Kamau had 13 points, nine rebounds and four assists for FSU.

Mike Mathews and Julian Watson had 13 points for York (6-10, 2-3) which made only five field goals in the first half.

Frostburg plays at Marymount (Va.) on Saturday.

MCHENRY — Marquise Green scored 20 points to lead Garrett past Essex in a Maryland JUCO game at Garrett.

Din Moore added 12 points, Antonio Butler had 10 points, nine rebounds and four assists, and Kurt Gangler 10 points for Garrett.

The Lakers came out on the better end of a back-and-forth first half, up 36-29.

Garrett led by as many as 15 in the second half. Essex made a run to cut it to seven on a three-pointer from Arvin Jackson, but Gangler answered with a three for Garrett to get the lead back to 10.

Jackson finished with 16 points and Timon Johnson added 12 for Essex.

Garrett (9-7, 4-6 JUCO) hosts Baltimore City Community College Saturday at 5 p.m.
