PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Brandon George drew a bases-loaded walk to bring in the game-winning run for Petersburg in a 3-2 win over Pendleton County, followed by a 16-0 rout of Tucker County on Thursday at Petersburg.
George also threw five shutout innings, before handing it over to brother Brian, who allowed two runs in the sixth to tie it, including an RBI single from the Wildcats’ Daniel Heavner.
Doug Lambert drove in three runs, while Justin Smith, Brian George and Corey Poole each drove in two in the blow-out of Tucker County.
The Vikings scored nine runs in the third, including eight consecutive singles.
Hedrick pitched five shutout innings, allowing just three hits and striking out 10.
Petersburg (5-1) hosts Keyser Tuesday in a doubleheader at 4 p.m.
In the junior varsity game, Tyler Rhodes struck out 10 and allowed only one walk over six innings as Petersburg blanked Tucker County 10-0.
Colton Turner finished with a pair of singles for the Vikings, with Nick Dolly and Brandon Ours both finishing with one double each.
N. Ayre went 2-for-2 for Tucker County.
Petersburg (6-1) will play a doubleheader at home on Tuesday with Keyser.
Paw Paw 0
HANCOCK — Hancock scored in every innings, needing only five to race past Paw Paw 10-0 Thursday afternoon.
Wolford, McKinley and Manning all had a pair of singles for the Panthers. Sipe was the winning pitcher, throwing all five innings.
Andrea Rodriguez and Devin Abe had a single each for both of the Pirates’ hits.
Paw Paw plays again Saturday in Franklin, W.Va. against Pendleton County in a noon doubleheader.
