Redinger, ACM beat PG

CUMBERLAND  — Ryan Redinger pitched the Trojans to an 8-3 win the first time around, but Prince George’s edge Allegany College 3-2 the second time around as the schools split a Maryland JUCO doubleheader at The Rock.

Redinger struck out nine while allowing two hits and one earned run in his complete game. The Owls, however, were ahead 3-0 before ACM scored three times in the bottom of the fifth.

Cody Doran doubled home a pair of runs during the innings as the Trojans tied the score.

They went right back to work in the sixth by scoring their final five runs.

Blayne McGuirk finished with three hits and one run batted in, Jeff Morgan hit a double and a single with an RBI. Allegany High graduate Drew O’Neal singled twice and drove in one run.

The second half of the doubleheader had Tony Lopez collecting two hits and one RBI, and Gonzalo Lebron driving in two runs as the Owls snuck past the Trojans.

Mountain Ridge graduate Pat Livingston provided both of Allegany’s runs with a double in the second.

The Trojans (8-11, 3-5 MDJUCO) host Garrett on Monday and Hagerstown on Tuesday. Both games will start at 3 p.m.

 

Potomac State, Garrett split doubleheader

KEYSER, W.Va. — Sam Vincenzo delivered a complete game effort as Potomac State downed Garrett College 7-1 in the opening game of a doubleheader split Friday afternoon at Golden Park.

The freshman lefthander struck out five and allowed just four hits to pick up the win and raise his record to 2-1.

Jamison Jones and David Kimbrough each had two hits and an RBI for the Catamounts. Alex Levitan added an RBI single as PSC outhit Garrett 10-4.

In the second game, Garrett took advantage of four Catamount errors en route to a 12-6 win.

Elliott McCummings and Mike Eisel each had two hits for Potomac State (13-9).

On Thursday, Brandon Cordell pitched a complete-game — his first of the season, a seven-hitter in the first game, and Tre Porter drove in four runs in the second game as Potomac State swept a pair of games over Shenandoah, 8-4 and 10-6, in Winchester, Va.

Cordell raised his record to 2-0 working his first complete game of the year. The freshman struck out three in picking up the win.

Frankie Wilson and McCummings both drove in two runs. Zach Stolipher and Kimbrough each had RBI singles.

Potomac State outhit the Hornets 11-7.

In game two, Porter drove in four runs with two singles and a triple.

Stolipher hit his first home run of the season with a two-run shot to deep right field in the third inning.

Sophomore Mike Eisel, making his first start, struck out six and allowed one run in five innings.

Garrett plays at Allegany College of Maryland on Monday.
