FROSTBURG — Frostburg State cruised to a 17-0 victory over Southern Virginia on a sunny Saturday afternoon in women’s lacrosse at Bobcat Stadium.
The shutout was Frostburg’s first since a 20-0 win at Waynesburg three years ago.
Twelve Bobcats scored in Saturday’s win. Megan White and Natalie Hughes had three goals and Emily Walker had two. Hughes and Jessica Norris got their first career goals.
Chelsea Feeney had four assists, moving her to fourth in the conference with 15.
Naomi Swann made two saves in goal to get her fourth win for the Bobcats (4-4), who led in shots 27-3.
FSU visits Washington & Jefferson on Wednesday.
St. Mary’s 10, Frostburg State 9
ST. MARY’S CITY — Chris Rios and Spenser Love had two goals and an assist, but a late Frostburg State rally came up short against St. Mary’s in Capital Athletic Conference men’s lacrosse.
The Bobcats (6-4, 0-2 CAC) scored two goals cut the score to 10-9 in the final minute
St. Mary’s (6-4, 2-0) overcame a 7-5 FSU lead with five straight goals, the final one giving the Seahawks a 10-7 lead with 7:47 to go.
Tyler Haines stopped 16 shots, including eight in the first quarter, for Frostburg State, which was outshot 49-22. Ryan Serio and Lucas Flaig had two goals and Andy Luhmann a goal and an assist.
The Bobcats host St. Vincent in a 7 p.m. game on Wednesday.
