FSU beats W&J, 11-7

WASHINGTON, Pa. — Frostburg State scored five straight goals midway through the match to take a lead it never relinquished in an 11-7 win over Washington & Jefferson in women’s lacrosse on Wednesday evening.

Tied 3-3, the Bobcats (5-4) scored the final two goals of the first half and got the first three of the second in opening up a 8-3 spread. Taylor Cassatt had two goals and Chelsea Feeney a goal and two assists during the five-goal spurt.

After W&J scored back-to-back goals to get to within 8-5, Megan White scored twice for Frostburg to help the Bobcats seal the win.

Cassatt led the way with four goals and White and Katelyn Kesecker had two. Naomi Swann earned her 11th victory with eight saves.

The Bobcats host Marymount (Va.) on Saturday at 7 p.m.

FROSTBURG — Frostburg State scored eight goals in the fourth quarter to blow open a close game and beat visiting Saint Vincent College.

The Bobcats (7-4) struggled with the Bearcats (2-5) for the first three quarters before the big fourth quarter. Frostburg trailed 2-0 after the first quarter, then outscored Saint Vincent 13-2 the rest of the way.

Spenser Love scored three goals and Devon Colegrove had two goals and two assists during the fourth-quarter scoring run.

Love finished with four goals while Colegrove had three goals and two assists. Tyler Haines had 11 saves in goal. FSU outshot Saint Vincent 47-20.

The Bobcats will host Greensboro on Sunday at 11 a.m.
