Northern nukes Salisbury, 18-0

— ACCIDENT — Kayla Porter and Erica Holtschneider had three hits each for Northern during an 18-0 rout of Salisbury at Northern on Friday.

Erica Umbel and Rachel Sisler combined to give up just one hit over the five-inning contest. Brianna Opel led the Huskies at the plate with a pair of singles.

Kaylyn McKenzie started the game for Salisbury and got the loss. She also had the lone hit.

Northern (3-0) hosts Keyser Monday at 6 p.m.

BAKER, W.Va. — Morgan Mongold homered, doubled and knocked in three runs in the opener, and East Hardy scored in every inning of the five-inning nitecap in sweeping a twinbill from Berkeley Springs.

In the first game, East Hardy (5-1) snapped a 1-1 tie with four runs in the third inning. In addition to Mongold, Rayann Foltz went 3 for 4 with three singles and Autumn Mathais belted a pair of doubles and knocked in two runs.

Makenah Harrington had two hits for Berkeley Springs.

In the second game, East Hardy led 7-5 after three innings, then put up a seven-spot in the fourth to pull away.

The Cougars finished with 14 hits with Rayann Foltz, Jade Foltz and Marilyn Cassell getting two hits and two RBIs each. Ashley Campbell had two hits and an RBI for Berkeley.

Jodie Funkhouser went the distance in both games and had nine strikeouts, including six in the second game.

East Hardy hosts Moorefield today at 5 p.m.
