Garrett’s pitching fuels sweep

— BUTLER, Pa. — Caitlyn McDaniel fired a five-inning no-hitter and McKenzie Rafferty threw a complete-game three-hitter in the first game to lead Garrett College to a sweep of Butler County Community College Monday afternoon.

McDaniel struck out 11 while the Lakers pounded out 13 hits in the 12-0 second-game victory.

Rafferty, a Southern Garrett High standout,  fanned 14 and the Laker offense had 16 hits in winning the opener 11-2.

Lindsay Brady homered in both games. She had a two-run shot in the fourth inning of the first game as well as a double and belted a solo shot in the fifth of the second game.

Rafferty had two doubles in the opener and Kathy Weaver and Shelby Burkett, who caught both games, each had a double.

Brady went 3 for 3 in the second game adding two doubles with her home run. Rafferty, McDaniel, Megan Stolbom and Hannah Wiltison, both Southern graduates, all had two hits.

Garrett (3-9) visits Community College of Beaver County on Thursday beginning at 3 p.m.
