Broadfording topples Mountain Ridge

Salisbury suffers 42-point loss against Shanksville

— HAGERSTOWN — Moni Anderson and Mawdo Sallah poured in 20 points for Broadfording Monday evening during a 73-61 defeat of Mountain Ridge on Monday.

It was back-and-forth in the first quarter, with the Miners keeping it within two points. Broadfording found their stroke in the second, scoring 19 points to take a 35-25 lead into halftime.

The Miners couldn’t slow down Broadfording in the second half as the Lions scored 19 points in each of the last two quarters.

Mountain Ridge heated up with 15 in the third and 21 in the fourth, but it only got them to within 12.

Josh Delaney led the Miners with 24.

Mountain Ridge dominated the jayvee game, 63-29. Dylan Shimko scored 13 while Hayden Lindsey and Dylan Williams each had 12 for the Miners.

Mountain Ridge (1-2) hosts Frankfort tonight at 7:30.

SALISBURY, Pa. — Carter Slade scored 20 points as Shanksville overran Salisbury, 81-39, Monday at Salisbury.

Slade and Ryan Platt combined for 17 of Shanksville’s 23 first quarter points to help it take an 11-point lead into the second.

Shanksville extended its lead, allowing just nine points in the second to go ahead 44-21 at halftime.

Salisbury struggled even more in the third, scoring just six points. They doubled that point output in the fourth but failed to get within 40.

Diori and Roberto Pattison were the leading scorers for Salisbury, with 15 and 13 respectively.

Platt finished with 15 for Shanksville.

Salisbury (0-2) plays at Shade Thursday at 6 p.m.

STRASBURG, Va. — Jonathan Cloosterman broke a 48-48 tie with a three-point play with a minute to go as Strasburg spoiled Moorefield’s season opener.

Cloosterman finished with 18 points and Tyler Hott had 14 for Strasburg (4-0).

Austin Williams scored 13 points to lead Moorefield, which had the ball and a chance to take the lead late in the fourth quarter despite a poor shooting night.

The Yellow Jackets shot 18 for 54 from the field and 3 of 10 from the foul line. They did fare well from the three-point line, where they hit 9 of 17.

Moorefield will play in the Musselman Mixer on Thursday and Friday. The Jackets will play Musselman on Thursday at 6 p.m., and Hedgesville on Friday.
