Keyser boys, Miners girls win Mountain Ridge Invitational

— CUMBERLAND — Keyser boys and Mountain Ridge girls each won six events to capture team titles in the Mountain Ridge Invitational held at Greenway Avenue Stadium Thursday evening.

The Miners’ Brandon Redmond was a four-event winner and Bishop Walsh’s Terrell McGraw won three events.

The Golden Tornado edged Mountain Ridge 119-106 to take the overall boys championship. Fort Hill was a distant third with 66 points. Bishop Walsh was fourth (52), followed by Frankfort (46), Northern (42), Allegany (38), Calvary Christian Academy (26), Southern (25) and Berlin (7).

The Keyser foursome of Craig Westfall, Timmy Biser, Wesley Minshall and Jordan Lawrance won the 4x800 relay in 9:02.1. The Golden Tornado’s Ryan Hickey won the 110 High Hurdles in 17.5. Teammates Tyler Hamilton won the discus throw in 137-feet, 7-inches and the shot put with a heave of 42’-7.5”; James Flint took the high jump in 5’-10”; and Zack Johnson, Amante Turner, Diandre Williams and Flint won the 4x200 relay in 139.3.

Redmond won the 1600 (456.0), the 400 (53.8), the 800 (2:06.2) and teamed with Andrea Angella, Canyon Lohnas and Rhett Poland to take the 4x400 relay (time unavailable).

McGraw won the 100 (11.2) and 200 (23.2) runs and teamed with Quincy Redmond, Billy Conroy and Ken Nicolos to take the 4x100 relay (47.0).

In the girls meet, Mountain Ridge’s Erica Wilson and Madison Offstein each won three events and Frankfort’s Katie Jan and Bria Welker both won two.

The Miners finished with 131 points to run away with the team title, finishing 36 points ahead of Berlin’s 95. Keyser took third with 93 points and was followed by Frankfort (78), Northern (52), Bishop Walsh (29), Fort Hill (22), Southern (21) and Allegany (8).

Wilson anchored the Miners’ winning 4x800 relay team (10:24) with Alexis Devault, Aleks Knepper and Madison Offstein. Wilson won the 1600 (5:50) and teamed with Casey Felker, Andy Bennett and Offstein to take the 4x400 (4:23.7). Offstein won the 400 run in 1:02.3. Samantha Sines, Lexi Metz, Felker, Rachel Ridenour won the 4x200 (1:53.0) and Madison Poland, Sines, Haylee Wilson and Ridenour took the 4x100 (53.9).

The Falcons’ Jan won the 800 (2:24.4) and 3200 (12:05.2) and Welker took the 100 (12.6) and 200 (26.4).

The meet was moved from Frostburg to Greenway Avenue Stadium due to snowy conditions at Mountain Ridge.
