FROSTBURG — Frostburg State held a statistical advantage in just about every phase of the game but it didn’t show up on the scoreboard as the Bobcats suffered a 3-2 setback to Wilson Tuesday night at FSU.
It was the third one-goal loss of the year for Frostburg State (2-4).
FSU led in shots 26-6, including a 16-2 advantage in the second half, and had a commanding 22-6 edge in penalty corners.
But Wilson (2-5) capitalized on its opportunities by scoring three goals on just six shots, with three first-half goals coming on four attempts.
Becky Randel scored a goal in the 17th minute to tie it 1-1, but Wilson regained the lead on goals by Victoria Whitbred and Taylor Crouse. Randel got her second goal, cutting the score to 3-2, in the 68th minute.
Wilson keeper Gina Wiegold stopped 12 shots. FSU’s Megan Grimm had two saves.
The Bobcats will play at Centre on Saturday at 1 p.m.
