Keyser outlasts FH

Bishop Walsh JVs, Alco freshman earn victories

— CUMBERLAND — Hunter Kasmier scored five touchdowns to lead Keyser to a 45-30 victory over Fort Hill in junior varsity football Monday afternoon at Greenway Avenue Stadium.

Keyser led 13-0 after the first quarter, 19-16 at the half and 31-30 after three quarters. Fort Hill also led several times, including 16-13 in the second quarter and 30-19 at one point in the third.

Kasmier scored on a 35-yard run in the first quarter, then caught a pass from Ryan Kunias and turned it into a 98-yard touchdown to make it 13-0.

Fort Hill scored back-to-back touchdowns in the second quarter to take a 16-13 lead. Quade Raley, on a 5-yard run, and Yadi Chandler, on a 65-yar run, scored the touchdowns. Lennon Squires hit Randy Tyler for one two-point conversion, and Charlie Twigg ran for the other.

Keyser went back on top, and led 19-16 at the half, after a 35-yard TD run by Kasmier later in the period.

Fort Hill opened the third quarter as it did the second, with back-to-back touchdowns, in building a 30-19 cushion. Quade Raley scored both touchdowns, on runs of 32 and 45 yards, an ran for one of the conversions as well.

Keyser regained control, storming back for the win by scoring four unanswered touchdowns. Kasmier had 48- and 67-yard touchdown runs in the third quarter that gave the Tornado a 31-30 lead heading into the fourth.

Tim Biser scored twice in the fourth, on runs of 1 and 77 yards, to complete the scoring.

Fort Hill (4-4) will play Allegany in their Little Homecoming Game on Monday at 7 p.m.

Bishop Walsh 38, Frankfort freshmen 18

SHORT GAP, W.Va. — Isaiah Fraser scored a pair of touchdowns to lead the Bishop Walsh javyees over the Frankfort freshmen.

Frazier had a 10-yard touchdown run and a 1-yard touchdown run for the Spartans. Raquan Weedon ran 25 yards for a score, and A.J. Wagner added a 1-yard touchdown plunge for BW. Zach Ruppenkamp tackled a Frankfort runner in the end zone for a safety.

Bryan Evans had a team high six tackles and Dale Smith had five tackles and a blocked punt on the BW defense.

Jacob Kessen had a 40-yard touchdown pass, to Devin Pierce, and a 50-yard touchdown run for Frankfort.


Allegany 42, Mountain Ridge 14

FROSTBURG — Carson Imes threw for two touchdowns and scored a third, and Bryson Shepherd and Tyler Eirich reached the end zone twice to power Allegany to a 42-14 win over Mountain Ridge in freshman football Monday at Mountain Ridge.

Shepherd scored first, on a 68-yard run, in the first quarter.

The Campers (5-2) broke the game open with a 28-point second period, with Tyler Eirich beginning the scoring spree with a 6-yard run. Shepherd had a 24-yard touchdown run, and Imes had a 64-yard TD pass to Brenten Miller and a 24-yarder to Eirich that made it 36-0 at the half.

Carson Imes dashed 68 yards for a touchdown in the third quarter, Allegany’s only one of the second half.

Mountain Ridge (3-4) got on the board later in the third quarter on a 55-yard run by Lucas Lowry. Hayden Lindsey had a 5-yard touchdown run in the fourth.

Imes finished 7 of 8 passing for 156 yards, Shepherd ran five times for 107 yards, Miller had two catches for 66 yards and Eirich two catches for 51 yards to lead the Allegany offense. Brad Winter and Thomas Dorsey stood out on defense.

Allegany will host Fort Hill on Little Homecoming on Monday at 5 o’clock at Greenway Avenue Stadium.
