Fazenbaker, Jones players of week

YORK, Pa. — Frostburg State University forward Stephanie Fazenbaker was named the Capital Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Offensive Player of the Week, and Chris Jones was picked as the Men’s Soccer Defensive Player of the Week on Monday.

• Fazenbaker, a former Mountain Ridge High standout, was named Player of the Week after scoring one goal and handing out four assists in a pair of CAC wins last week. She had an assist in a 2-1 victory over York (Pa.), then scored a goal and had three assists in a convincing 7-1 win over Marymount Friday night that assured the Bobcats of the No. 2 seed in the CAC Tournament.

Fazenbaker leads the conference with 14 assists and is third in points with 28.

• Jones earned the men’s award after leading the Bobcats to a 1-1 draw with 11th-ranked York (Pa.) and a 3-1 Homecoming triumph over Marymount. The victory over the Saints secured the No. 2 seed for the Bobcats in the upcoming conference tournament.

Jones anchored a defense that allowed just two goals, one on a penalty kick, on 31 shots over the two games last week.
