PenMar league

to meet Sunday


RIDGELEY, W.Va. — The PenMar-WV Semi-Pro Baseball League will hold a meeting on Sunday at the Ridgeley American Legion at 5 p.m for coaches and league officials

The meeting agenda will include confirmation of details for the fourth annual golf tournament at Rocky Gap on April 20.

The wooden bat league consists of five teams this season: The Tri-State Titans, Oakland Oaks, West Virginia Powerhouse, Cumberland Orioles and Morgantown.

The league is now recruiting new teams from all surrounding areas and any players looking for a team for the summer.

FSU infielder earns honorable mention

FROSTBURG — Frostburg State senior infielder J.K. Filauro has been named an honorable mention hitter on the second NCAA Division III National Players of the Week announcement as voted on by a panel of DIII members of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.

Filauro, the Capital Athletic Conference Player of the Week, helped the Bobcats (9-4) to a pair of wins in three outings.

Filauro hit .777 (7 of 9) in two games with six runs scored, four RBIs, a double and a home run. He was 4-for-4 with a double and homer in a 16-5 win over Stevenson and was 3 for 5 with four runs in a 26-6 victory over Oneonta.
