Wesley    6 3

Frostburg State    5 6

DOVER, Del. — Frostburg State saw a four-run lead slip away in losing the opening game to Wesley 6-5 before bouncing back with a thrilling 6-3 victory in the second game to avoid the sweep at Wesley on Sunday afternoon.

On a chilly St. Patrick's Day, neither team felt that seven innings would be sufficient time to stake its claim, as both teams battled their way into extras, one contest going in favor of the Wolverines (10-3, 2-1 CAC), the other in favor of the Bobcats (10-6, 1-2 CAC).

In Game 1, J.K. Filauro and Kevin Kean had two hits each for the Bobcats, as did three others. Garrett Price led the way with two RBI.

Wesley, trailing 5-2, scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth to tie it at 5-5.

The Wolverines scored the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth inning.

In the second game, the Wolverines scored two runs on three hits to take a 2-0 lead heading into the last inning.

With three outs standing between a sweep to the Wolverines, the Bobcats’ Matt Donaldson sparked the rally with a pinch-hit infield single. After Brandon Remalia’s single, Ryan McGuigan tied the game with a double down the right field line and eventual 3-2 lead for the Bobcats.

Wesley forced extra innings again with a run in the seventh.

In the ninth inning, the Bobcats scored runs with the eventual game-winner coming from an RBI single by Filauro.

Freshman pitcher Kyle McCormack set the Wolverines down in order for his first collegiate win.

McGuigan was a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored. Dylan Shupe added two RBIs and Filauro and Kean each added RBIs as Kean also extended his hitting streak to 14 games.

Frostburg State visits Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C., today for a 3 p.m. game.
