FROSTBURG — Taylor Cassatt scored five goals and Katelyn Kesecker added four as Frostburg State cruised to a 19-11 win over Wesley in college women’s lacrosse on Sunday.
FSU (3-2) used an 8-0 scoring run to close out the first half and get the win in their Capital Athletic Conference opener.
Wesley (3-4, 0-2 CAC) tied the contest at 4-4 midway through the first half but couldn’t slow down the Bobcats during the game-sealing 8-0 spurt.
Allie Welsh scored on an assist by Chelsea Feeney with 13:35 left in the first half to start the 8-0 spurt that made it 12-4 at halftime.
Wesley scored the first two goals of the second half, but FSU answered with four in a row for a 10-goal cushion, 16-6.
Cassatt, with 5 goals and an assist, Kesecker, four goals, one assist) and Feeney three goals, three assists combined for 17 or the team’s 26 points. Naomi Swann made 11 saves for her second win in goal.
Mia Brocco scored four goals for Wesley.
