Fort Cumberland escapes with split against Jefferson

CUMBERLAND  — Wade McGee induced a pop up to the short stop to escape with the bases loaded and earn the save as Fort Cumberland Junior Post 13 split a doubleheader with Jefferson County by winning the late game 9-8 Thursday at Allegany College of Maryland.

Jefferson scored three runs in each of the final three innings to take the opener, 9-3. Fort Cumberland (17-17) plays a doubleheader today at noon, at ACM, against Morgantown.

For Jefferson, Lewis hit two singles and French a double.
