WVU, Va. Tech renew series for 2 games

MORGANTOWN, W.Va. (AP) — West Virginia and Virginia Tech are renewing their football rivalry for two games.

WVU athletics director Oliver Luck announced Wednesday that the schools will play a two-game series in 2021 and 2022. The first game will be played in Morgantown on Sept. 18, 2021. The second game will be played Sept. 24, 2022, in Blacksburg, Va.

The Mountaineers and the Hokies have faced each other 51 times since the series began in 1912. The last time was in 2005 in Morgantown.

 Orioles option Valencia to Norfolk

CHICAGO (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles have optioned infielder Danny Valencia to Triple-A Norfolk to make room for Wednesday’s starter Scott Feldman.

The right-hander was scheduled to pitch against the Chicago White Sox — a day after he was acquired in a trade with the Cubs. Feldman came in with a 7-6 record and 3.46 ERA.

Valencia was batting .230 with four homers and eight RBIs in 21 games for the Orioles.

Temple agrees to return to Wizards

WASHINGTON (AP) — Garrett Temple says he’s returning to the Washington Wizards.

The versatile guard said Wednesday that he’s agreed to a one-year contract for next season.

Temple was signed on Christmas Day from the Reno Bighorns of the NBA Developmental League and became a regular part of the Wizards rotation, playing both guard positions. He appeared in 51 games, starting 36, and averaged 5.1 points and 2.3 assists.

Scandal star weds NFL’s Asomugha

LOS ANGELES (AP) — No “Scandal” here: Kerry Washington is a newlywed.

The star of TV’s “Scandal” married professional football player Nnamdi Asomugha (NAHM’-dee AH’-suhm-wah) last week in Hailey, Idaho.

E! reported the nuptials Wednesday and posted a copy of the couple’s marriage license online. The Blaine County recorder’s office in Hailey confirmed the June 24 filing to The Associated Press.

The 36-year-old actress and 31-year-old athlete were married the same day.

Asomugha is a cornerback with the San Francisco 49ers. He previously played for the Oakland Raiders and Philadelphia Eagles.

Besides starring in the ABC political thriller, Washington’s other recent credits include the films “Peeples” and “Django Unchained.”
