Pitching leads Lakeview Auto, Ridgeley VFW to wins

Both teams toss one-hitters in shutouts

ACCIDENT — Lakeview Auto Parts had three pitchers combine on a one-hit shutout in a six-inning, 10-0 defeat of Taylor Mining at Northern High School Monday.

Hunter Hill, Logan Yommer and Calyb King combined to strike out 12, though they walked six. They allowed a hit in the first inning before keeping Taylor Mining’s bats quiet for the remainder.

Yommer doubled twice, driving in two with the bat. Aaron Rodeheaver doubled, and Brooks Carr singled twice.

Devin Smith’s single in the first was it for Taylor Mining.

Lakeview Auto Parts (15-1) playS KMK/Outdoor Power Wednesday at Northern at 6 p.m.

Cumberland Lions    0

CRESAPTOWN — Ridgeley VFW pitching stifled the Cumberland Lions Monday evening, holding them to no runs on one hit in a 10-0 victory in five innings at Memorial Field.

Brett Whiteman started and threw two innings before Nate Strietbeck pitched the third and fourth innings, allowing a single to James Clark in the fourth. Wyatt Yates tossed a scoreless fifth before the mercy rule took effect.

At the plate for Ridgeley, Garrett Weaver and Xavier Kalp both doubled. Yates, AJ Christ and Chase Cosner each singled twice.

Ridgeley VFW (14-3) plays Cumberland Optimist Thursday at Memorial Field at 5:30 p.m.
