Southern girls, FH boys unbeaten leaders

Hampshire girls, Rams boys holding down first places in Adjusted Divisions

CUMBERLAND — The Allegany County Interscholastic Bowling League (ACIBL) still has the Southern girls and Fort Hill boys undefeated in the Actual Division while Hampshire girls and Southern boys have maintained first place in the Adjusted Division.

The Actual Division has the Southern girls, with a record of 13-0, winning over Hampshire and Bishop Walsh by the scores of 34-2. Southern’s Julianna Sharpless rolled a 550 set with a high game of 212 in the Bishop Walsh match. Fort Hill’s Trey Bennett rolled a 662 set with a high game of 235 to defeat Hampshire 36-0 to maintain a perfect 15-0 record. In this match, Kasey Sullivan, of Fort Hill, had the high game of 238.

The Frankfort girls, with their 27-9 win over Allegany, remains in second place at 11-2, while Mountain Ridge is only one game away at 11-3 for third place. The boys division has Mountain Ridge with only one loss, to Fort Hill (26-10), in second place with a record of 13-1. Because of weather closings, the match between these two top teams will be rescheduled.  Mountain Ridge had wins over Lighthouse Christian, 34-2, and Calvary Christian, 36-0.

Hampshire’s girls (11-3) remain in first place of the Adjusted Division despite losing to Southern, 24-12, and Fort Hill, 22-14, but picking up a win over Allegany, 22-14. Calvary Christian lost its match to Lighthouse Christian, 23-13, to knock itself from second place to third. Even with the 20-16 win over Mountain Ridge, Calvary is at 9.5-4.5 while Mountain Ridge is 9-4.

In a close race for the boys Adjusted, there is only one game separating Southern (10.5-2.5) and Frankfort (9.5-3.5). Mountain Ridge follows with a record of 10-4 after losing to Frankfort 22-14.

Because of weather related closings, the Southern-Frankfort match will be rescheduled.

High games and sets were rolled last week. For the boys, Allegany’s Randy Cubbage had a 633/220, Southern’s Zack Riggleman a 627/223, Hampshire's Travis Veach a 638/255 and Mountain Ridge’s Matt Clark with a 627/222. High games rolled have been by Justin Proper 243 (Keyser), Kasey Sullivan 238 (Fort Hill), Stefan Miller 258 (Bishop Walsh), Zach Folmer 191 (Frankfort), Nathan Bussard 148 (Lighthouse Christian), Max Cessna 155 (Calvary Christian), Seth Buckbee 203 (Allegany) and Trenton Daniels 205 (Hampshire).

High sets rolled by the girls include Fort Hill’s Bri Morris (563/201), Southern’s Julieanna Sharpless (550/212) and Mountain Ridge’s Mariah Snyder (535/203). High games were by Hannah Smith 179 (Allegany), Julie Abernathy 159 (Keyser), Ra-Shanna Middleton 167 (Fort Hill), Kaitlyn Sealock 192 (Hampshire), Savannah Chaney 190 (Calvary Christian), Brittany VanMeter 144 (Lighthouse Christian), Sarah Appel 168 (Frankfort) and Kim Northcraft 175 (Bishop Walsh).
