FROSTBURG — Frostburg State scored 47 points in the second half but fell a few points short and lost to Salisbury on Senior Day at Bobcat Arena.
Frostburg (6-17, 2-9 CAC) made just 5 of 27 shots and had 13 turnovers in the first half as Salisbury (11-11, 5-5) built a 39-22 lead. But the Bobcats found plenty of offense in the second half, and Elaina Hummel’s three-point play just six seconds into the half started a valliant comeback attempt.
Consecutive layups later by Hummel and James made it a 10-point game, and a James steal led to a three-point play by Deara Parker that cut the score to 60-53 with six minutes left. A Brynn Arnone-James give-and-go and a pair of free throws by Steph Straka got it to 67-64 with 2:41 to go, and another bucket by Straka made it 67-66 with 1:46 showing.
The Bobcats, however, missed a shot that would have given them the lead, and a three-pointer by Salisbury’s Courtney McManus and several foul shots in the final minute helped the Sea Gulls hold on.
Anna Hackett had 26 points and Julia McLaughlin 21 for Salisbury.
Hummel had 20 points and hit 10 of 11 free throws for Frostburg State. Straka added 13 points and four assists and Young nine points and eight rebounds.
The Bobcats host Marymount in their final regular-season home game on Wednesday.

The game was the final home game for Allegany sophomores Madi Nightengale and Monique Rhodes, who combined for 42 of the Trojans’ 52 points.
Nightengale had a game-high 24, hitting six field goals and 10 of 12 foul shots. Rhodes made eight field goals and a pair of foul shots for 18 points.
Paris Duncan added six points and a team-high eight rebounds.
