YORK, Pa. — Christian Jackson scored 30 points and made four of Frostburg State’s 12 three-point goals to lift the Bobcats to a 64-60 win over York in the regular-season finale for both teams Saturday afternoon.
Jackson hit 9 of 13 shots from the field, 8 of 10 from the foul line and also had seven rebounds. Royce Hunsberger sank three three-point shots and added nine points while David Patrick had eight points and four assists for the Bobcats (10-15, 4-8 Capital Athletic Conference).
Frostburg had 11 field goals — nine being three-pointers — in the first half. They led by as many as 13 points, 29-16, and were on to 37-29 at the break.
York (7-18, 2-10) rebounded in the second half and took a 46-43 lead with just under 13 minutes to play. The Bobcats answered with a 15-2 run that was highlighted by three three-pointers, to regain a double-figure edge at 58-48.
York scored eight straight points to close to within two at 58-56 with 2:18 left. Shawn Henson halted the Spartan spurt with a layup, and Jackson hit a jumper and two free throws in the final minute to help seal the win.
Julian Watson had 21 points and Todd Maciejewski 15 points and 12 rebounds for York.
The win gives the Bobcats the No. 5 seed for the CAC Tournament. They will play at No. 4 Mary Washington in a first-round game on Tuesday at 7 p.m.
