Jackson repeats as CAC Player of Week
FROSTBURG — Frostburg State senior guard Christian Jackson has been selected as the Capital Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Player of the Week. Jackson also garnered this honor last week as he was named co-player of the week along with Salisbury senior guard Travon Vann.
Last week, the Bobcats captured two wins and Jackson averaged 23.5 points, 7.5 rebounds and shot 56 percent from the field. He is currently ranked second in the country in scoring, averaging 26.1 points per game.
In the 66-61 defeat over Marymount, Jackson finished with 17 points, eight rebounds and three 3-pointers.
In the final regular-season game, the Bobcats grabbed a 64-60 victory over York (Pa.) behind Jackson’s game-high 30 points, his eighth game with 30 or more points this season. He also finished 9 of 13 with four three pointers, eight foul shots and seven rebounds.
With the two conference wins, FSU has clinched the fifth seed in the upcoming CAC Tournament that begins on this evening. The Bobcats will play at fourth-seed Mary Washington beginning at 7 p.m.
Silver Hoop tournament meeting tonight
CUMBERLAND — There will be a meeting regarding the Silver Hoop/Doug Shook Memorial Tournament in the old gym of Fort Hill tonight at 6 p.m.
