George pitches Petersburg by Berkeley Springs

PETERSBURG, W.Va. — Brandon George pitched a complete-game two-hitter, striking out nine and walking two to lead Petersburg to an 8-3 win over Berkeley Springs in the first game of its West Virginia Class AA Sectional Tournament Wednesday at Petersburg.

Brian George went 3-for-3 for the Vikings with two doubles and a single to knock in four runs. Brian Colaw had a single and a sacrifice fly to knock in two runs and Trent Borror had an RBI single.

The Vikings scored three in the first, one each in the second and third innings and two in the fourth before the Indians got on the board in the fifth with a pair.

Petersburg (14-7) will look to sweep the best-of-three sectional today, 6:30 p.m., at Berkeley Springs to advance
to the regional tournament.

FANNETT METAL, Pa. — Hope for Hyndman broke open a one-run game with nine runs in the seventh inning to defeat Fannett Metal Tuesday evening.

Micah Stair, behind 10 strikeouts, held Fannett Metal to seven hits but he also gave up seven walks in going the distance for the win.

Grant Sisk led the Hornets, who led 6-5 after six innings, with three base hits and three RBIs. Elijah Stair also had three hits with one RBI and Jack Leydig tripled, singled and drove in two runs. M.J. Messenger and Lucas Miller each had two hits and two RBIs.

Hunter Kann led Fannett Metal with two hits and three RBIs.

Hyndman (5-9), riding a three-game win streak, visits McConnellsburg today for a 3 p.m. doubleheader. It will close the regular season hosting Meyersdale on Friday.
