Grantsville takes half of a DH with Elkins

ELKINS, W.Va. — Cody Rodeheaver and Brooks Carr each had RBIs in the ninth inning to put Grantsville Post 214 over Elkins Post 29, 8-7 in game one of a doubleheader at Elkins Sunday.

Elkins would force a split by winning the late game 13-0.

Patrick Sines led off the ninth with a double and advanced to third on a wild pitch. Rodeheaver brought him in with a sacrifice fly. Keith Chapman’s 2-out double led to Carr’s RBI single.

Elkins made it a 1-run game in the bottom half and had the bases loaded with two out before Sines got out of the jam.

Sines doubled twice in the game. Chapman doubled and singled. Carr singled twice.

Cody Gainer doubled and singled twice, brining in three for Elkins. Colby Gainer and Doug Smith both singled twice.

Brandon Hammons tossed five innings of 3-hit shutout ball for Elkins in a 13-0 rout.

Cody Gainer doubled twice and singled with three RBIs. Tyler Shreve drove in two with a double. Tyler Scott singled twice, bringing in one.

Grantsville’s three hits were all singles by Sines, Danny Sislo and Aaron Broadwater.

Grantsville Post 214 is 9-8 after the two-game set with their next opponent to be determined.
