Romney holds off Post 13, wins 10-7

Three pitchers strikeout 11 to help Post 91 improve to 20-5

ROMNEY, W.Va. — Josh Crawford, Tyler Holt and Shane Ennis combined for 11 strikeouts as Romney Post 91 built a 10-4 lead and held on for a 10-7 win over Fort Cumberland Post 13 on Tuesday at Hampshire High School.

Crawford got the start and fanned nine over the first five innings before giving way to Holt, who added two strikeouts. Ennis entered in the eighth after Fort Cumberland scored twice to draw to within three runs, but he sat down the final two batters with runners on first and second.

Jamison Jones and Ennis paced Romney at the plate by going 3 for 4. Jones drove in two runs and Ennis got three RBIs. Cole Smith had three RBIs on a bases-loaded triple, and Trevor Largent added a double.

Chris Fram doubled and singled in two runs for Fort Cumberland, with Evan Harden getting two RBIs on three singles. Carter Imes hit an RBI single.

Romney (20-5) plays Berkeley at home, at 5 p.m., on Friday. Fort Cumberland (8-9) plays Thursday at home against Grantsville beginning at 5:30 p.m.

POTOMAC PARK — Dan Strietbeck hit two home runs, drove in five runs and struck out 10 in a complete game for Fort Cumberland Post 13 during an 8-7 win over Morgantown Post 2 Monday evening.

Strietbeck helped give Post 13 a 3-1 lead by hammering a two-run shot in the bottom of the first inning. He homered again when he strolled to the plate in the fourth to stretch the lead to 8-1 with another two-run shot. He also hit a double and drove in another run.

Evan Harden gave Fort Cumberland a double and a single, and Josh VanMeter and Carter Imes both added two singles. Jake Kyle added a double.

Strietbeck allowed seven runs on seven hits in nine innings while collecting the 10 punchouts.

Connor Leone hit a triple for Morgantown and Travis Weimer hit two doubles.
