Kiwanis puts kibosh on Lions

— POTOMAC PARK — Blake Beal got strikeouts in 11 of the first 12 outs he recorded and Josiah McCauley finished off the offensive barrage from Kiwanis with a two-run home run during a 14-2 win over Cumberland Lions Monday at Rick Hamilton Field.

While Beal was mowing down Lions hitters over the first four innings, his Kiwanis teammates were providing him with eight runs of support in the first inning and four more in the fourth to spot him a 12-2 lead. McCauley added the final two runs on his home run in the top of the fifth.

McCauley also had two singles with his long ball, and Beall helped himself out with three singles. Brody Evix finished with four RBIs on two singles, Colton Hamilton added three singles and Justin Copman hit two.

Ty O’Baker picked up half of the Lions’ six hits with three singles, while Cole Miltenberger had the only extra-base hit with a double.

Kiwanis (8-13) will play at Memorial Field, 8 p.m., on Wednesday when it faces Burtnett Agency.

The Lions play Bill Miller Equipment at Memorial Field Thursday.
