Taylor Mining walks to victory

POTOMAC PARK — Teddy Baker hit a pair of singles and knocked in two runs to lead the way as Taylor Mining defeated Frostburg 1st United, 11-1, in Hot Stove League baseball Sunday at Hamilton Field.

Baker’s hits were the only ones for Taylor Mining (7-6-1), which received 13 bases on balls in the five-inning game. Corey Shockey got the win with a one-hitter, seven strikeouts and two walks.

Blair Merrill doubled for Frostburg 1st United, which plays Fort Ashby Lions on Tuesday at Memorial Field.

Taylor Mining plays Grantsville SAL on Wednesday at Grantsville.

Team One Auto Mall   1

POTOMAC PARK — Dave Bussard had two singles and Burtnett Agency jumped on Team One Auto Mall with a four-run first inning at Memorial Field.

Tanner Coughenour and Josh Hickey limited Team One to just two singles in the seven-inning game. Coughenour struck out three in four innings of work and Hickey fanned four over the final three innings.

Burtnett (10-3)will play Cork’s Cars on Wednesday at Hamilton Field.

Team One will play Cumberland Kiwanis on Wednesday at Broadford Park at 7 p.m.

Ridgeley      10

Frostburg 1st United   0

POTOMAC PARK — Blake Rhodes had three hits and Ridgeley finished with 16 in a five-inning win over Frostburg 1st United at Hamilton Field.

Wyatt Yates, BrettWhiteman, A.J. Christ, Chandler Rhodes and Caleb Hare had two hits each for Ridgeley (10-1), which plays Keyser VFW today at Kruk Field in Keyser.

Perry Conner doubled and singled and Brian McKenzie doubled for 1st United.
