Leydig’s throw seals win for Casselman

— POTOMAC PARK — Lance Leydig gunned the potential tying run down at the plate for the final out in the bottom of the seventh inning, preserving Casselman Valley’s 5-4 victory over Moose in Rec League baseball Monday evening at Memorial Field.

Casselman Valley had taken the lead in the sixth inning with three runs. With one out and runners on second and third in the bottom of the seventh, Leydig ranged under a fly ball in center field and fired home to cut down the runner trying to tag at the plate.

Alex Beiler singled, knocked in a run and scored two others and Brandon Miller also drove in a run for Casselman, which scored its five runs on the help of three hits and three Moose errors.

Trenton Eirich hit an RBI double and Vinny Foreman a two-run single for Moose.

Casselman Valley (9-2-1) plays at Salisbury against Northside tonight at 7:30. Moose (6-7) also plays tonight, against Hite Roofing, at Bel Air.
