BW rolls to 65-34 victory

CUMBERLAND — Bishop Walsh rolled to a second straight win Thursday evening by defeating Calvary Christian Academy, 65-34, at Bishop Walsh School.

After jumping out to a 15-point first quarter lead, Bishop Walsh (5-9) never looked back, increasing its lead in each quarter to follow.

Senior Kier Turner led a  balanced attack with a double-double, totaling a team-high 13 points and 10 rebounds. Isaac Mourier contributed 10 points, eight rebounds and five steals for Bishop Walsh. The Spartans also got nine points from Max Paver and seven rebounds from Darius Berry.

Calvary (3-8) had two players in double digits — combining for 25 of its 34 points. Matt Dillow had a game-high 14 points while junior Zack Nelson scored 11 for the Eagles.

Bishop Walsh will travel to face Mountain Ridge tonight at 7:30. Calvary also plays tonight hosting Fulton County.

FROSTBURG  — Steven Glasbrenner scored a game-high 19 points and the Mountain Ridge Miners outscored Hyndman 22-4 in the third quarter to break away and win a low-scoring affair over the Hornets Thursday in Frostburg.

Glasbrenner got hot from the outside and made five threes as part of six field goals. He also made both of his attempts at the foul line to finish as the only player in double figures. Both Colton Winner and Rashawn Johnson added eight points.

The Miners dug their way to an 8-2 lead at the end of one quarter and was ahead 15-7 at halftime. The monster third quarter gave Mountain Ridge a 26-point lead (37-11) entering the fourth.

Jordan Hiquet led Hyndman  with eight points.

Tyler Thomas scored 20 points for the Miners during a 65-20 win in the jayvee game. Hunter Scaife scored 13 for the Hornets.

The win evens Mountain Ridge’s record at 5-5 and they play again tonight when they host Bishop Walsh. Hyndman (4-8) also plays tonight at Turkeyfoot.
