Case Western makes first trip to Frostburg

0-2 Bobcats seek first win; kickoff at 1 p.m.

FROSTBURG — Frostburg State hosts the second of back-to-back home games as the Bobcats welcome Case Western Reserve to Bobcat Stadium this afternoon at 1 p.m.

Today’s showdown will be just the second meeting between the two schools and will be the first trip for Case to Frostburg.

Frostburg State won a 17-16 victory last fall in Cleveland, Ohio. Ken Emmons connected with  Chuky Iweh for a six-yard touchdown with 43 seconds left in the fourth quarter the Bobcats to victory.

Heading into last week’s showdown with Waynesburg, Frostburg used two quarterbacks in the season opener against Geneva.

That won’t be the case this weekend after Emmons’ performance last week. He totaled 521 yards and accounted for all seven Bobcat touchdowns in their 59-49 loss to Waynesburg. He threw for 384 yards and four scores and ran for another 137 and three touchdowns.

Emmons, a junior, was named the ECAC Northwest and Empire 8 Offensive Co-Players of the Week. He was also named an Honorable Mention USA College Football Division III Player of the Week.

Freshman Janai Billips is off to a fast start after his first two games. He has carried the ball 25 times for 138 yards, averaging 5.5 yards per carry. Billips will face a Case defense that has allowed 239 yards on the ground over its first two games.
