HYNDMAN, Pa. — Jess Ringler dominated on the mound and also homered and drove in four runs at the plate to power Hope for Hyndman to a 12-1 win over Shanksville in high school softball Friday evening.
Ringler allowed only one hit, struck out 10 and did not walk a batter in the five-inning game. At the plate, she went 3 for 4 with a homer and two singles. Her two-run homer came during a seven-run fourth inning.
Karly Willison and Kayla Wilt belted triples and Katie Cosgrove had two singles for the Hornets (4-5), who play again Monday at Meyersdale.
Mountain Ridge 11
KEYSER, W.Va. — Chelsea Muir belted a grand slam and Shae Winner also homered for Mountain Ridge during an 11-3 victory over Keyser Thursday afternoon.
Winner used her home tun as part of a four-RBI evening. Emma Baker, Jenna Miller and Carlie Lewis all singled twice.
Lewis was also the pitcher of decision, throwing all five innings and allowing three runs on seven hits and 10 strike outs.
Lexi Carr, Katie Hoban and Sam Hoban all singled twice for the Golden Tornado.
Mountain Ridge (10-0) plays today at Northern at 1:30 p.m.
Hope for Hyndman 0
HYNDMAN, Pa. — Tori Bohrer threw a three-hitter and Allegany took advantage of three Hope for Hyndman errors in a shutout win on Thursday.
The Campers (6-3) scored a run in the first inning when Tallia Logsdon reached on an error, Chantelle Collette singled and Logsdon scored on a throwing error.
It remained a 1-0 pitchers duel between Bohrer and Hyndman’s Jess Ringler until Alco scored two insurance runs in the sixth. Becca Bensavage reached on an error, Logsdon singled and Courtney Landis followed with an RBI single. Landis scored later in the inning on an overthrow at first on a ball hit by Collette.
Bohrer did not allow a Hyndman baserunner past second base. Ringler absorbed a tough loss despite firing a four-hitter. She had two of the Hornets’ three hits.
Allegany will play at Keyser today at 1:30.
