Hill leads Hampshire to victory

BUCKHANNON, W.Va. — Logan Hill had a double-double with 19 points and 12 rebounds to lift Hampshire to a 54-51 win over Buckhannon-Upshur in high school boys basketball on Saturday.

The Trojans held slight leads throughout the first three quarters, leading 8-3 after the first quarter, 21-15 at halftime and 35-31 following three quarters. Buckhannon tied it at 45 to force the extra period, but Hampshire got an early lead and kept it with success at the foul line.

Hill made seven field goals and all five of his free throws. Travis Clower added 15 points and Thomas Llewellyn went 7-for-10 at the foul line, coming up huge down the stretch, to allow the Trojans to pull away. Clower added four assists and four steals.

Dalton Westfall had 22 points for Buckhannon.

Hampshire (1-2) will host Allegany on Tuesday.

Union 75, Harman 59

MOUNT STORM, W.Va. — Travis Murphy’s 25 points helped Union push past Harman to finish off its own two-day Tip-Off Tournament with a 2-0 record.

Murphy led the Tigers by sinking 10 field goals and 4-of-5 free throws, and also had four steals. Camden Curry added 11 points, while Jacob Nelson and Nathan Evans scored nine points.

Harman’s Alex Armentrout had a game-high 26 points and Caleb Shifflet 20.

Harman held a 20-19 lead through the first quarter. The Tigers took a 39-33 lead at halftime and expanded it to 56-45 by the end of the third quarter.

The Tigers (3-0) play Wednesday at West Virginia School for the Deaf.
