BW coaches to meet tonight

CUMBERLAND — There will be a meeting tonight for all head coaches at Bishop Walsh. The meeting begins at 7 p.m. in the library.

Wednesday night’s Bishop Walsh Athletic Association meeting is canceled.

Sunday School league caps 85th season

CUMBERLAND — The Cresaptown United Methodist team completed a perfect season in the Earl Nonnenmann/YMCA Sunday School Basketball League on Saturday, beating Lighthouse of Hope 25-7 in the Continental Junior Division championship game.

Darian Bauer scored seven points and Grant Cain had six as Cresaptown (14-0) added the playoff title to their regular-season championship. Lighthouse of Hope, the regular-season runner-up, finished 9-5.

The Holy Cross United Methodist Seniors beat Metro A.M.E. 43-17 in the United Division championship game. Garrett Weaver poured in 18 points for Holy Cross (12-2). Perry Kennedy led second-seeded Metro AME (10-4) with six points.

In the American Division, St. John’s Lutheran Seniors rolled past second-seeded Second Baptist 54-28 in the title game. Cody Butler had 22 points for St. John’s (13-1). Braden Stott and Michael Smith had seven for Second Baptist (10-4).

In the only upset of the day, The Potter’s House defeated regular-season champion St. Paul’s Lutheran 36-27 in the National Division final. Tyrone Maddox had 19 points for The Potter’s House (8-6), which was the second seed. Caleen O’Toole had 15 points for previously unbeaten St. Paul’s Lutheran (12-1).
