Glass helps ACM split with Harford

— BEL AIR  — Joe Glass entered during the seventh inning and put out the fire as Allegany College of Maryland salvaged a doubleheader with Harford by winning the second half 4-3 Saturday during a Maryland JUCO twinbill.

The Fighting Owls got the drop on the Trojans in the first game, scoring four runs in the bottom of the first to win 10-4.

Austin Barefoot got the start in the closing half of the doubleheader and allowed one run through the first six innings. He came out for the seventh, but got into trouble and never recorded an out. Glass entered and allowed two runs that were Barefoot’s responsibility before recording the third out for the save.

Brandon Miller finished with two hits and two RBI, and Cody Doran added two more hits. Corey Shroyer collected three singles and drove in one run.

In Harford’s win, Shane Garrett, Jerry Germinski and Jordan Glover had two hits and two RBIs.

Miller, Doran and Cody Malone finished with two hits for the Trojans. Malone also had an RBI.

Allegany (20-22) plays Frederick at home on Tuesday.

BALTIMORE — Garrett pitchers combined to allow just five runs in two games to get a 3-1, 5-4 sweep at over Essex on Saturday.

Tyler Lawrence and Joe Miscolo combined to give up just two hits in the first game. Carlos King and Patrick Sines each had two hits.

Eugene McGeeney and Jacob Sites accounted for Essex’s hits. John Wheelton pitched well in the loss, allowing three runs on seven hits in a complete game.

Briar Weiss allowed four runs in five innings to get the win in game two. Aaron Stoner came on to pitch four shutout innings for the save.

Jason Hepple recorded three hits. Michael Bolla had two and Corey Podvasnik tripled and singled for the Lakers.

Griffin Shirley and Jordan Smith each singled twice for the Knights.

Garrett (23-27, 10-13 in MD JUCO) hosts Chesapeake in a doubleheader today at 1 p.m.
